OUR STORY

85 years of pure Maine joy.

Dairy Joy has been a fixture of Lewiston and Auburn since 1940 — family-owned, family-run, and proudly serving the kind of ice cream you remember from childhood, because it actually is.

A neighborhood tradition

Established in 1940, Dairy Joy started as a small ice cream stand in Auburn — a summer spot where families gathered after baseball games, where first dates ended with a shared sundae, and where regulars knew the staff by name. More than eight decades later, not much has changed.

We still make our hard serve in small batches. We still swirl our soft serve fresh every morning. And we still treat every guest like a neighbor — because most of them are.

Made for Maine summers (and every other season).

From the first warm day of March through the last crisp evening of fall, our two shops in Lewiston and Auburn are open daily, scooping cones, swirling shakes, and stacking sundaes. We open earlier and stay open later every year because, frankly, nobody wants to wait for ice cream.
